Midwest Sound and Lighting is looking to add a full-time AV Installation Technician to our team in Omaha or Lincoln, NE. We are a locally-owned, family-oriented company located in Omaha and Lincoln, NE.

The AV Installation Technician has a vital role in the successful implementation of a variety of low voltage systems, including but not limited to:

  • Live Sound Reinforcement Systems
  • Audio/Video Playback and Monitoring Systems
  • Video Distribution and Presentation Systems
  • Lighting Systems
  • Control Systems

The AV Installation Technician will help and assist others with the installation, operation, maintenance, and service of various sound, video, lighting, and control systems. This role requires hands-on experience using various hand and power tools. To succeed in this position, you should also be able to comprehend and follow complex technical manuals and read architectural drawings. We’d like to hear from you if you have good problem-solving skills, an eye for detail, and good manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Installs components and cabling as per specifications or requirements
  • Orders equipment when necessary to provide for the needs of the installation
  • Tests all equipment after termination to ensure the performance of systems
  • Work in compliance with the company’s safety policies with the safety of self and others in mind at all times
  • Communicates with team managers on delays, requirements, and status of jobs
  • Keep logs up to date with customer requests, work performed each day, job numbers, dates and times, and tasks assigned
  • Complete all work to company standards, and practice quality installation techniques.
  • Run all jobs within the estimated time or cost.
  • Work with project engineers on startup to ensure complete system performance.
  • Works with team managers to ensure full closeout and turnover of jobs to the client and service department
  • Requires some travel, often at a distance where overnight stay might be required

Requirements

Knowledge

  • 3+ years working in the electronic field where AC/DC theory is used daily
  • Proper hand and power tool operations and safety
  • Low voltage electronics soldering
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Basic computer and networking skills
  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) is preferred but not required
  • Experience with programming control systems is preferred but not required
  • Experience with drafting software is preferred but not required

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly to communicate with employees and customers
  • Manual dexterity is required for significant reaching and lifting of all sizes of objects, including some over 80 lbs.
  • Work is often done at high elevations and requires constant awareness of safety issues.
  • Must be physically able to maintain and operate power tools and office equipment
