Dozens of Omaha area creatives gathered at Omaha Creative Institute for another installment of “CreativeMornings”, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber. As per usual, CM organizers Kim Sellmeyer and Steve Gordon got us off to a great start with high-fives and hugs, some announcements, and a little game that got everyone ramped and amped up for Edem’s presentation on “Honesty”. Attendees consumed lots of coffee and muffins and listened attentively, as Edem gave her talk, and encouraged us all to be who we really are.
Edem Soul Music is a respected staple on the Omaha original music scene, and received the 2018 OEAA Award for “Best Soul Music”. As an artist and an individual, Edem strives to live an authentic life, and to encourage others to embrace their own uniqueness. She recounted her mother telling her to be herself, “because no one else is Edem!” Edem is also a first-generation American; her parents are Ghanian, but she was born in the USA.
Edem sang two original songs for the attendees, accompanying herself on djembe, and then on ukulele. She has a wonderful voice and stage presence, and captivated the audience totally.
Midwest Sound & Lighting is proud to sponsor CreativeMornings with the Greater Omaha Chamber. We used a single 1KW QSC K-12 powered speaker, Shure wired and wireless microphones, and an Allen & Heath mixer to provide crystal-clear, feedback-free sound reinforcement.
Congratulations to the Greater Omaha Chamber and CreativeMornings for another successful, stimulating, energizing Friday morning get-together. I look forward to next month’s “CreativeMorning”.
Peace, out-
