Project Description
Donna Reed Center for the Performing Arts
Overview
The Donna Reed Center for the Performing arts is a 1914 German-style opera house, in Academy Award-winning actress Donna Reed’s hometown, housing the Donna Reed Heritage Museum and Theater. The theater is now used for concerts, dramatic and special events of all types. A special feature of the theater remains in the form of a large screen film playback system with surround sound. Midwest was asked to design and install digital sound and video to function in harmony with the existing cinema equipment.
Project Details
- Midwest was given a special challenge by being requested to add digital video playback capabilities and general-purpose sound reinforcement for meeting events.
- All of the equipment installed had to work without compromising movie film playback.
- A limited budget required that no additional loudspeakers could be added in this first phase.
- A unique and approach was chosen, repurposing part of the movie film loudspeaker system for use as sound reinforcement.
