Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium – Alaskan Adventure Exhibit

Overview

At the design phase, Midwest developed a complete control system that would trigger water effects in sync with 16 tracks of discrete high fidelity audio through completely weather (and water proof) loudspeakers. The control system triggers the water and audio systems and operates them from an automated routine controlled by a single touch panel. All of the effects and water were programmed by Midwest Sound & Lighting personnel in coordination with an international team of water feature design experts.

Project Details

  • Working collaboratively with other design experts delivered a great result for the Zoo.
  • Despite not having done a project like this before Midwest did the research and development needed to produce a reliable and high quality solution.
  • Knowing that there would be a mix of children, water and electricity at the exhibit required a constant focus on safety and durability.
  • A challenging schedule required quick turn around of programming and final tweaking of the systems.
